Tenley-Friendship Public Library / Washington, DC 18" x 16' x 4" / 3 layers of silkscreened glass with LED lights. Many thanks to Karen Davidov and Luther Davis of Axelle Editions. Over a three month period, I researched and recorded the personal stories of the residents of Tenleytown, a neighborhood in Washington DC. I collected memories associated with existing and demolished places surrounding the library. By utilizing layers of glass and light, the history of the community is conveyed in its evolution from rural countryside to urban neighborhood, while it’s contemporary identity is illuminated through the weaving of illustrated personal narratives.
